Infertility. Estrangement. Death. All reasons today is painful for some. I’m calling this group Motherless Mothers. They are the women that walk among us with a hole in their heart on this day. And because we are taught in God’s word to mourn with those who mourn, my ask is that as we celebrate the beauty of motherhood, let’s not forget the motherless women in our lives.

Some have longed to become pregnant but have never been able to. If that’s you, I want you to know that I see you. You are NOT forgotten.

Some have been cast off by adult children in the name of mental health but are really part of a toxic generation’s take on therapeutic “boundaries”. Today I want you to know that I see you too.

Some have been separated by the finality of death. Some were never able to reconcile. You may be grieving for the mother you always longed for but never had. Today I want you to know I see you. You also are not forgotten.

While I am so grateful God gave me the mother and children I have, I also want to say that I see all the women in my life who will go about their day with a hole in their heart. I see you. You are not forgotten.
